Batchelors Bigga Peas provide a quality and taste exclusive to Batchelors. Their Bigga Peas are an ideal and convenient accompaniment to your favourite meals. With roots dating back to 1895, Batchelors dried peas are commonly used for Mushy Peas, a true British delicacy. These are dried peas that must be soaked 12-16 hours before cooking.

Mushy Peas
I'm something of an Anglophile, but I never had mushy peas. I was reading a mystery series and the characters were always getting fish and chips and mushy peas. So I did a little research and found out that mushy peas are field dried peas that are then soaked and cooked and are mushy.Doesn't sound appetizing, right? Let me tell you, these are fab. A different experience than fresh/frozen American green peas. Mushy peas made with Batchelor's Bigga brand are somewhat dry tasting and sweet. And a whole heck of a lot better then canned peas (yuck!).I truly like these and have them now every time we have fish in our house. They are truly very good. Give 'em a try!

Taste Like UK Mushy Peas
As an American, these tasted like the mushy peas that I had in the UK. I also found a video on YouTube that was uploaded by a Brit who used this brand and I followed his cooking instructions. I was pleased with the outcome because they tasted exactly like the peas that I ate in London. I do think the they are bit pricey for peas but I'm told that you must use marrowfat dried peas to get that authentic taste. Hopefully I can find them in a shop at a lower price but, if not, I suppose it's worth the extra cost to get the real deal.

Delicious for first-time mushy pea eaters!
We have a tradition at our house that the person whose birthday it is can choose any menu. My daughter wanted a British theme with fish and chips for her birthday dinner. I was a bit surprised by her choice I must say! Anyway, I decided to supplement with peas because she loves peas as well. To be “authentic” I found a mushy pea recipe and purchased these. I bought 2 boxes but it really made a lot for only 6 people so I would recommend just one for a group that size. Anyway, they were super simple to make and tasted absolutely delicious. We have never had them before so I cannot tell you if the taste authentic but we certainly enjoyed them. We all spoke with our definitely-not-authentic British accents during dinner as well which I am sure made them even better! We were chuffed to bits!

1st Time American
Good experience. Worth the (almost) $6 for one box (makes about four moderate servings probably twice and good cold the next day, too). Pureed with immersion blender after adding Irish butter. Forgot to start them on the "hob" with the suggested boiling water, but still ok though it took longer to cook. Worthwhile British/Irish food experience and much better than our crispy type peas, if looking for a mashed potato, starchy pea food item.

DELICIOUS - JUST AS I REMEMBER!
Over the years, I have tried to reproduce MUSHY Peas (a delight from my childhood in England.) All attempts were futile. Decided to pop onto Amazon and came across Zorba Online and BIGGA Marrowfat Peas, suitable for Mushy Peas. I ordered several boxes, followed the instructions (included the soda tablets) and they turned out to be gorgeous. An absolute MATCH to my memory banks, which is rare. I could not be more delighted. Will return for more after we have devoured the remaining quantity. Many thanks to Zorba Online for speedy service. SUSAN (USA)

Peas, damaged box
So o got drunk and was looking at fish and chip recipes and read reviews about these peas as a must have side dish for fish and chips. Box came crushed, but they’re hard peas. Still haven’t eaten them yet.

Pea shoots come up in few days on the porch on in garden. Leaves have great flavor too! (Prefer cooler weather) Great purchase.

Pea shoots
I buy these to grow pea shoots as its cheaper than wasting precious and very expensive garden seed. Have no idea how they taste but they grow fabulously well and the shoots are delicious.

These come from the U.K.
I like Batchelors marrowfat peas, what I don't like is that they came from the U.K. and I had to pay duty on them.

Perfect for pea soup
That's about all I can say really... except that 24 packets will make a LOT of pea soup!

Smashed box. Useless packaging. Unusable peas. No way to return. Terrible.
I would give this a zero star if possible. The box of peas came in a cardboard package (like Amazon would use for a book). The pea box was, not surprisingly, smashed and the peas were loose in the cardboard package. Unusable.I tried to return but the website says "this item is not eligible for return".What a waste of product, packaging, petrol and time.
