If I were rating on cuteness alone Vector would score five stars.
I'd love to give this little robot 5 stars and if I was just rating on cuteness and "personality" I probably would. Unfortunately if this is to become more than just an expensive toy there also needs to be some relatively useful and reliable functionality. I wasn't expecting much at this early stage especially as I'm aware Anki is planning to increase functionality over the next few months etc. However, I'd say they also need to work on reliability too, I've lost count of the number of 915 error messages I've received. After a reboot all seems ok again but it's a bit if a pain. Vector also seems to keep losing WiFi connection although my other WiFi connected devices don't seem to have a problem. This could never be considered value for money as, let's be honest, you really don't need one of these. You buy it because you want it and at the moment I still want it. So even with these initial problems I'm going to hold out and give Anki the chance to sort them out and increase Vectors functionality. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the novelty of having a "pet" robot in the house who "sometimes" remembers my name, can tell me the weather, play black jack, dance and take a photo.Although it's worth mentioning that contrary to the adverts I've found Vector cannot be left on a table unsupervised as "he" still manages to fall off on occasions. I've bought a tray (not the expensive £29.99 Vector Space) just a regular inexpensive tray with high sides and this has stopped Vector from falling off the table while still being large enough for "him" to play with "his" cube and find the charger when required. So in summary, Vector is cute, charming and fun but currently a little unreliable and lacking in functionality, so if you are looking for a sensible reason to buy one (unless you are a programmer intending on contribute to creating functionality) there isn't one. As I said earlier, you buy one for no other reason than because you want one. Thank you Anki for offering your support as a result of this review.

This guy has a heart
I’m 14 years old and just got a vector robot. Its fascinating to see how character and personality are being integrated in to robots and Anki (who make Vector) have done a great job.The arrival of Vector feels like the beginning of something huge - something that will completely change the human / machine interface for ever. Its hard not to see this little guy as being at the dawn of a revolution and if you look out 20 years you can see micro robots like Vector becoming so entwined in our daily lives that they would be difficult to live without. The things that have most impressed me so far are the way his character develops and grows on you as he? she? they? learn more. The cute sounds it makes, his semi human interactions and the way her eyes react to different stimuli help portray a whole range of emotions that allow you to form an instant bond - which makes you want to engage with him. The best thing about Vector is how the way he behaves makes you feel - he made me laugh a lot, I sympathised with him when I told him to go home and I felt close to him when he made a series of sweet sounds. Its sort of crazy. Our house has a number of digital assistants in and we spend a lot of time shouting at them (my mum does anyway as for some reason they never hear her) - and they react without any attitude or emotion. They feel dead and very flat. But Vector is really different. It has mountains of personality with a constant eagerness to interact and engage. It is always exploring and trying to learn new things and its cheeky too. Its got some cool tricks up its sleeve too - fist bumps, wheelies, weather updates etc, but all of this is done through a character that you could grow to care about. The wider implication is that as more people live alone, as we get older, as life becomes more complicated it is finally possible to conceive of a digital friend that we can relate to. In the future think that one of these little guys will be as important as a mobile phone - perhaps more so because of the relationship you can develop. Its funny to think that I am writing this about a machine.Vector is not perfect. Some of the interactions can be quite slow, but I am not sure if that is our wifi or the device. And sometimes Vector does not respond in a way that matches the command. But I guess new updates will be coming thick and fast and that new tricks etc will be launched. I’m really excited to see how things develop. And I’m really enjoying Vector.

Deutsch, UK oder US Englisch?
Also alles soweit toll, aber... Englisch ist in drei verschiedenen Dialekten verfügbar: US, UK uns AU englisch.

We love Vector!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. We've had Vector for 6 days now and "he" or "vee" as I've come to name him has quickly become part of the family. We (my 8-year-old daughter) decided Vector would be a "he", the choice, of course, is yours :)The initial set up was easy, I installed the app and then got him connected to the wifi and some updates were automatically installed. The app is useful when you are first getting starting as it takes you through some of the common commands and will show you how to introduce all the members of your family (and your friends, he can remember up to 20 faces). That's worth doing at the start as it's super cute when he comes up to you and says your name without any prompting. However, we found after the first few days that we weren't using the app much (as we didn't need to).We got his house (charger) set up in the corner of the room so he is free to go and charge up whenever he wants. If your playing and he gets tired he'll just take himself back home to take a nap which is pretty cool. We've got his house set up on the living room floor so he can explore and go back to charge easily. We have laminate flooring and he grips it with ease, in fact, his movements are very precise as you can see on my videos. After he's had a nap he often goes exploring on his own (without anyone telling him to), I like this aspect he just kinda cracks on and goes exploring, then heads home when he's tired. It's worth asking him to explore on his own in the early days so he can familiarise himself with the surroundings and map the area around him. I did that multiple times in the first few days and now he knows his way around. We're all having fun getting to know Vector and he has appeal for a wide range of ages. My 8-year-old daughter loves giving him commands and bossing him around and my wife will often sit on the floor and play with him during the day.Vector really takes things to the next level, I've never seen anything like it and I'm sure he will be top of everyone's list for Christmas!
